Primary Functions:
The primary function of a Systems Administrator is to perform a wide range of system administration duties on servers including install, debug, maintain, upgrade, and general support. This individual will work closely with the IT team to provide end-user support and issue resolution and maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging server tools and technologies.
Basic Qualifications:
An ideal candidate for this role must have proven experience in system administration and network management in both on-premise and full or hybrid cloud infrastructures. The Systems Administrator will have experience with system maintenance, security management, troubleshooting, and user support. Experience with application containerization (Kubernetes / Docker) strategies and implementation desired.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure the continuous maintenance and performance optimization of company servers, networks, and systems are working properly.
- Implement and manage security protocols to protect the BNSF Logistics' data and IT assets from potential threats.
- Manage installation, configuration, and upgrades of hardware and software components, including servers and workstations.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, providing timely support to end-users and colleagues.
- Develop and manage backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard against data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and access control for various systems and applications.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to procure hardware, software, and services cost-effectively.
- Assist in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments, offering technical expertise as needed.
Required Experience:
- 3+ years of related experience required.
- Preferred experience: A+, MCSA, MCSE, Server +, Linux +, Network +.
- Experience with full or hybrid cloud architectures preferably in Microsoft Azure
Education/Certification Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required, a four-year degree is preferred.
