Primary Functions:
To inspect and measure over-dimensional rail shipments, verify securement per supplied drawings, verify securement meets Association of American Railroads (AAR) Open Top Loading Rules (OTLR) and submit inspection reports. The position also will be called on to supervise loading of over-dimensional shipments and supervising securement of the load to the railcar.
Position Responsibilities:
- To perform Dimensional Railcar inspections as assigned by BNSF Logistics Engineering.
- Perform railcar mechanical inspections as assigned by BNSF Logistics Engineering.
- Engineering field work to assist with experiments, tests, unique railcar setups, and first railcar setups.
- Able to communicate with field crews during test setups per drawings or instructions from engineering.
- Capable of communicating to customer improvements necessary in securement after consulting with BNSF Logistics Engineering.
- The primary location is the Texas Gulf Coast. Quickly be able to deploy to Houston area with short notice.
- Provide Third Party Logistics (3PL) shipment technical support for shipments.
- Support business development in the Gulf area/office location in Houston.
- Provide light engineering support and customer concept development.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
- Technical degree preferred in such disciplines as Computer Engineering, CPA, etc.
- 2 + years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Dependable daily attendance and work output
- Strong work ethics and organizational skills
- Ability to lift fifty or more pounds without assistance.
